Healing Journeys with Like Minded People - Empowering Indigenous Communities

Established to create opportunities for like-minded people interested in not only their own healing but the healing of indigenous communities and of our planet. Many people are drawn to connect with our Earth on their own personal healing. The School has a commitment to empowering indigenous communities often wounded in their process of integration into a western culture.

The School also recognises that indigenous communities, often through ritual and their deep connection with their country and culture, have embodied a wisdom often lost but desired by westerners. Many journeys offered by the School visit remote and sacred areas definitely not on the tourist track.

This country is definitely not on the tourist track and is Australia’s last frontier. We will experience an abundance of bird life as we drive through the Lake Gregory area with traditional owners of this country. We will visit the renowned Wolfe Creek Crater, one of the world’s largest fallen meteorite sites and hear stories of an ancient past handed down by generations of desert people. After leaving the southern Kimberley we will explore caves and caverns within the Bungle Bungle before our final stop at the Wungabun Aboriginal community before our return to Kununurra.

TESTIMONIALS

I felt honoured when the Elders took me into their initiation area to carry out Mens Business. I was then painted up. To look into this man's (Dickie's) eyes and make jokes with him about this white fella being painted up made me feel warm all over. Later that night I was invited to dance with the Elder men (Dickie and Morton) around the campfire.
KEITH LOWE - Massage Practitioner, Shortland, NSW

I have been blessed with many gifts and opportunities to help me grow but this unique experience was far reaching in all areas of my existence internally and externally. My at homeness with Elders' simple yet provocative teachings of a different culture and way of life was a jog. Within days I was experiencing the immense sense of loss of our indigenous people and their culture.
GLAD PEACOCK - Practitioner, Adamstown, Newcastle, NSW
Loved everything about the trip - the bush living, the people I travelled with, the magnificent landscapes and the indigenous communities. I felt transported into another time, totally cut off from my normal routine, allowing me to get out of my head and into my body. Sunsets, sunrises, campfires, singing, story telling, hiking and swimming, soon replaced computers, telephones and balance sheets. I will always remember this trip as one of the most special things I have ever done in my life and I will definitely be returning as soon as I possibly can.

The smell of freshness in the air, the taste of pure water, absolute silence of open spaces & caves. The touch of my body on the ground. To chant OM NAMAHSHIVIA in an ancient chasm with friends. Spending time with Aboriginal people so willing for us to hear of their lives, story & art & the delight of sharing all of this with a group of like-minded beings. I am blessed to have experienced the abundant aesthetic & cultural diversity of the Kimberleys. This journey has helped to give voice to some of the forgotten & unspoken parts of myself. I am full of grace & gratitude.
JENNIFER NEIL - Facilitator, Dances of Universal Peace, Wynnum, QLD
A fantastic and enlightening experience. I thoroughly enjoyed being a trail-blazer. Loved the serenity and timelessness of the Kimberleys. The innocence and love received from the indigenous people and the many friends I have made. This was my 2nd trip and I am looking forward to returning again soon.
SHARON ELLIS - Massage Practitioner, Rouse Hill, NSW
Quite an adventure with special access to Aboriginal communities and privileged to have elders as our guides. They shared their "dreaming" and we were taken to many sacred sites. The colours of the country, the remoteness and space gave a great feeling of peace and understanding of the indigenous people's love for their land. A great trip, I look forward to returning.
POPPI BECHER - Herbalist, Burrawang, NSW
Black kites and brolgas, blue lotus pools, sarongs and swags. The gathering of clans filling the sky with stories ancient and new. Meeting old friends for the very first time, sharing secrets and the mending of pains. Allowing the silence, its space and blessings, legends and truth, seising the moment with grace, seeing it all, harmonising, the truth, the future and the past eternally spiralling awe.
CHRISTINE LIEDTKE - Massage Practitioner, Mallacoota, VIC
The trip exceeded any expectations, even though I had prepared myself not to have any. I enjoyed the process of "being". It really didn't matter what was planned as the feeling was that whatever happened was going to be meaningful - and it always was. In a nut shell, the trip was 2 years condensed into 2 weeks in terms of profound experience. Remnants of a living culture which forgoes the "I" and instead surrenders to the spirit of stories, family and country.
GERRY DENDRINOS, Homeopath, Canberra, ACT
We turned the bend and the gorge opened up into a semi enclosed natural amphitheatre. I have been in some of the great man make cathedrals in the world, but the natural majesty of the ochre walls towering up to brilliant blue sky was awe inspiring. What a truly spiritual experience to be in a place of indescribable beauty feeling oneness with all.
JULIA CAHILL, Naturopath, Canberra, ACT
Urban tribal band moving through the Kimberleys from comfort zones to a world most knew although never experienced. Ancient land broken up by river gorges and shaped ranges. The willingness of Aborigines to share their heritage with outsiders was inspirational. I have returned home with a better understanding of rock art mythology, dreamtime stories, relationship to the landscape, land title issues and the necessity for Koori people to create a better future. An experience I will never forget.
