Massage for Chronic Pathologies

Massage is not a cure for chronic disease. It is however, one of the most popular complimentary therapies to provide a client with comfort. Massage is not used as an alternative, but in conjunction with the conventional interventions and other complimentary therapies, aiming to diminish the side effects of treatments and improve quality of life. Studies have been conducted to assess the efficacy of a variety of bodywork techniques for clients undergoing conventional treatments. Numerous bodywork modalities may be used by qualified therapists for clients living with a chronic disease and illness. The importance is not so much the modality being used but the therapist’s ability to adjust it based on the client’s medical history, age and individual needs.
